YJC Solutions builds FIX and trading software. This FIX acceptor simulator and the public collection of dev tools available on this site, under the FixPortal moniker, represent our latest efforts. They build on experience gleaned from wiring a European hedge fund's order flow to the market, as well as our intimate involvement with the build-out of the commercial OMS, "TOMI", provided by the US-based vendor, Centerprise Services.

FixPortal was created to meet a genuine production need. Point your own engine at our FIX acceptor simulator, watch every message, and decide exactly how the venue fills, rejects, or replaces messages. It is the product of years spent at the coalface, building out FIX capabilities from first principles as the principal architect, developer, tester, and tea-boy of a storied noughties European hedge fund. The dev tools herein are the product of years of scrabbling in the FIX backwoods.

MEET THE TEAM

Chris Dowling

Founder · FIX & .NET

Lead architect of the FIX engine - a proprietary quickfix/n fork. His product carried an entire hedge fund's order flow in production: from unsolicited drop-copies to full bi-directional placement, to-platform and direct-to-broker, across multiple FIX versions and asset classes.
Built and owned that OMS's back-office integration end-to-end (data translation, static-data import, reconciliation, trade matching, encrypted file transfer), then re-engineered it under fire in 2025 when the back-office provider went permanently dark, re-routing every workflow with no disruption to the desk.
Before that, senior developer on a synthetic-CDO management platform, and a real-time front-office trade-capture system for one of Europe's largest energy traders.
Came to all of it through an MA(Hons) in English Literature and an initial career working in back and then middle office of a number of investment banks.

Yasmin Dowling

Product & Experience

First-class honours in Comparative Literature at UCL, achieving a spot on the Dean's List and receiving an Academic Achievement Award. Through this, she gained the research depth characteristic of a humanities degree, whilst learning Spanish and Japanese.
Researched emerging instruments, tokenisation and exchange practice for a US trading-tech firm, helping to land a new exchange. Using this experience, she then took on how FixPortal reads and behaves, focusing on design, language, user flows, and UAT.
The reason a tool built by engineers doesn't read like one.

Both of us came to trading systems through the humanities, not computer science, giving us a unique perspective.
